A Studied Case
Groundwater Detected by Altimeter
Studying groundwater is an important research topic. In this section, the attention is paid to this field. In remote sensing technology at least there are two manners to gain geo-hydrological data, hence altimeter and gravity anomaly detecting device. The former is a manner of being mainly used to measure altitude, but it is already discovered to usefully explore groundwater making use of scatted-back photons in an active model, the latter is a manner of measuring water storage owing to that the flow of groundwater is influenced by gravitational anomalies.
Furthermore, the former is able to acquire the information of groundwater distributes vertically making use of signal retardation, at this point it seems that LiDAR is not powerful enough to clearly identify such signals.
Figure 1 to 3 provide some summarized information of how groundwater distributes in vertical and horizontal direction in terms of altimeter. The further confirmation is to be supplied later.
