Rates of Sea-Floor Spreading
In the process of plate drift with rotation of the Earth, there were three types of behaviour happening between two plates (see Figure 1), which can be discovered in oceanic floor.
• Ridges spreading in opposite direction (apart)
• Edges of plate spreading in opposite direction (collusion) resulting in subduction zone due to unbalanced forces in vertical direction
• Transform default caused by the difference of relative motion between two plates.
Plate drift causes the motion of magma among crust, lithosphere and asthenosphere and generates earthquake, volcano (see Figure 2).
